Our History & Panela Heritage
Founded as a small family business, Panela Co. was born from a passion for preserving traditional flavors and sharing the unique taste of panela with the world.
Our family is originally from Valle del Cauca, a region in Colombia widely known for its sugar cane fields — the heart of panela and sugar production. Sugar cane farming has been deeply connected to our family and culture for generations, and panela has always been a meaningful part of our everyday life.
Growing up in Colombia, aguapanela was present throughout our day. In the mornings, we enjoyed it as a warm infusion or added it to coffee for its rich sweetness and caramel notes. At lunch, we prepared refreshing iced beverages with lemon, ginger, and tropical flavors. In the evenings, it was often served hot or cold alongside traditional foods like arepas and cheese.
For generations, panela has been part of our kitchen, our traditions, and our identity. From the countryside to the cities, it is a drink that represents comfort, family, and Colombian culture.
That is why we created Panela Co. — not only to share traditional aguapanela, but to reimagine it through different presentations including frozen, iced, and warm infusions, while incorporating flavors inspired by our culture such as lime, ginger, lulo, berries, mandarin, cinnamon, peach, milk, and more.
Today, we continue sharing the authentic taste of panela through handcrafted beverages inspired by tradition and made for modern enjoyment.
